The Youth Capital Fund is money given to Birmingham Youth Service by Central Government to encourage groups of young people to make a difference in their local area. Young people will approve all the grants we give out.
The Youth Capital Fund provides a capital budget to be spent on what young people want and it is designed to work in tandem with the Youth Opportunity Fund.
The Youth Capital Fund can be used for:
• Changing useless or under-used spaces so young people can enjoy them
• Modifying or extending an existing public building so it can be used for lots of different things
• Remodelling to improve quality and access - but it is not for repairs or maintenance.
Examples could include:
• Buildings
• Mobile units
• Youth shelters
• Skate parks
• Park improvements
The Youth Capital Fund is:
• For all young people 13-19 (up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties)
• To give young people a real voice in decision making
• To engage disadvantaged and hard to reach young people
• To enable young people to enjoy sport and recreational activity
