Representatives

VCS Matters aims to increase the number of Voluntary and Community Sector Representatives in the Children's Trust governance arrangements in Birmingham and to support them in their work.  The VCS Matters Strategy Group has approved a Role Description for VCS Matters Representatives.  There will be support, training and mentoring available to VCS Matters representatives and a Bursary Fund to cover any of out of pocket expenses if necessary.

In September we invited applications for the first 6 VCS Matters Representatives. The following persons were appointed: Marian Webb, Barnardos & Richard Desjardins, Spurgeons (Children & Young People’s Board - associate members); Bob Tyler, St George’s Post 16 Centre & Simon Cottingham, The Children’s Society (Operational Change Management Group); John Street, free@last & Matt Green, St Basil’s (Planning & Performance Group).

Future rounds are now being prepared.

The first round process is explained in the documents below:

  • Role Description for VCS Matters Representatives
  • Bursary Fund Guidelines
  • Birmingham Children's Trust arrangements map (October 2006 version)
  • Children & Young People Board (CYP Board) Memorandum of Understanding
