This year's National Playday Campaign theme is "Give us a go".  The campaign promotes the benefits of allowing children to manage their own risks whilst playing, and aims to counter the risk-averse ‘cotton wool' culture that can limit children's play.  Playday 2008 falls on Wednesday 6 August.

Birmingham Play Strategy Partnership Group (BPSPG) will be hosting a central Playday event to celebrate the launch of the Birmingham Play Strategy, and the appointment of a Birmingham Children's Play Champion. This event will be funded by the National Lottery through Big Lottery Fund.

The BPSPG aims to produce a newsletter that will promote all of the Playday events that are happening across Birmingham, from 2-8 August, and to attract considerable media interest and coverage.

BPSPG would like to promote any Playday event that you may be planning, and will co-ordinate a city wide newsletter promoting these events.
