Do you know what the outcomes are of your organisation's work?  Can you provide the evidence to convince others such as funders?  It's really important that you can answer these questions if for example you want to engage with the commissioning framework and deliver children's services in Birmingham.

Due to popular demand additional dates have been fixed for our excellent VCS Matters training on evaluating outcomes organised in conjunction with De Montfort University and funded by Birmingham City Council. 

Sets of three sessions are offered with alternative dates. Participants should book for all three sessions in their set. If you cannot manage all the dates in any of the sets you may ask the course administrator if there is a space for the relevant session in another set.

Session 1 - 'Outcomes introduction' is an introductory session dealing with the importance and basic principles of evaluating outcomes in the current policy climate, including the link to Birmingham's Brighter Futures Strategy and commissioning. It will explain the language of outcomes, inputs, outputs etc and provide ideas on how to collect evidence to show your project outcomes.

Session 2 - 'Outcomes in more depth' will look at ways of evidencing outcomes in more depth. It will be substantially based on practical examples, case studies and group work around the questions you face in your own projects. It will deal with choosing indicators, capturing evidence of outcomes including ‘soft outcomes' and how to analyse and write up your information.

Session 3 - 'One-to-one support' is a follow up ‘surgery' sometime later. Projects can bring their practical questions and progress thus far and discuss their evaluations in small groups and on an individual basis with a tutor. There will also be some limited scope for email or telephone support.
