Life after care
With the Children & Young Persons Bill set to become law, children in care are once more in the spotlight.
Life after care: how to improve services and outcomes for care leavers is a free half-day seminar, organised by Children & Young People Now in conjunction with QA Research and National Care Leavers' Week, which will explore the gaps that remain in services for care leavers, often leaving them vulnerable and struggling to cope. Based on brand new research, this seminar considers the views of care leavers themselves on how services and support could be improved.
This free event is being held on Wednesday, 29 October 2008 from 2pm until 5pm at the William Sangster Room, Central Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, Westminster, London SW1H 9NH.
Why should you attend?
- Hear exclusive research findings on the real-life experiences of young people who have left the formal care system
- Learn how the transition from care could be improved by using the research's specific recommendations
- Listen directly to care leavers explaining what their transition from care was like and what they believe needs to happen to improve post-care services and support
- Take part in a Q&A session to discover what steps need to be taken to improve long-term outcomes for care leavers
