Funding

Below is an alphabetical list of possible funders for voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people in Birmingham.  For more information click on the name.  For any queries and to apply for funding please contact the funders directly.

Funding information and support is available from the new improved funding database of BVSC - The Centre for Voluntary Action at www.open4community.info/bvsc - The portals cover Government, Lottery, EU funding, Non-Government and Trust Funding, information comes from a national database of over 7,700 funding opportunities. This includes localised funding opportunities. If you do not have access to internet search facilities and/or you would like assistance in using the portal, please contact Claudia Page-Ebbans on 0121 678 8888 or email Claudiap@BVSC.org

You can search for funding using Grantnet - visit www.bvsc.org and enter Grantnet in the search box.  You will need to register and once you have done this you can search for funding.  Another useful website is www.open4community.info/walsall

BVSC have also produced factsheets on funding and related issues (see below).  A presentation on 'Funding tips, tricks and resources' from Mairead Ui Hawker at BVSC is attached below.  There are also resources on coping with the cuts - go to http://www.vcsmatters.org/coping-cuts

Local Development Agencies offer services in organisational development, support in fundraising, access to information, communication networks and more depending on specialisms. The Development Agencies Network is made up of 10 well-established voluntary organisations working to support frontline voluntary and community organisations, covering the whole of Birmingham, each one working in a particular area. To find out more go to http://www.birmingham-da.org/ - enter funding in the search box which will give you numerous links to funders.

Birmingham City Council has established the External Funding Support to enable local community groups to make the best use of the many different sources of funding available.  External Funding Support makes information electronically available on many external funding sources, e.g. regional funders, grant updates, tips for your funding application and areas of good practice etc, which is accessible by all.  Reports include the External Funding Support Report for Children & Young People Under £5,000 produced in late 2008 and attached below.  They also produce a Newsletter on a monthly basis where alongside news about funding streams they advertise successful projects. You can e-mail the External Funding Team at efs.enquiries@birmingham.gov.uk to add you to the mailing list.  For more information see http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=42818&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=13731
